Plant Movement

Mimosa Pudica is a well known plant due to its rapid movement when touched. In the evening the plants leafs close and the plant as a whole droops. The pant re-opens at sunrise; this movement is called thidmonasty movement. The leafs also react to blowing, shaking, warming and touching.

It’s thought the plant uses this movement as defence against animals as animals may be afraid of such a fast moving plant.
